Police in Bomet County are holding a 21-year-old man who hacked his wife to death for allegedly flirting with male friends on her Facebook account.

Ismael Kingeno Langat is reported to have attacked his 25-year-old spouse with a panga after she arrived home from college where she was schooling.

The suspect claimed that he had sold a piece of land to educate the woman, further adding he had warned the deceased against the flirting behaviour.

According to Makimeny Location Chief Francis Mwei, the suspect also attempted to kill his father, who had rushed to the scene to find out what was going on but managed to escape by a whisker after dodging the panga-wielding son who was baying for his blood.

The suspect, after the heinous act, surrendered himself to Makimeny Police Station carrying blood-stained Panga.

Chepalungu Police boss Panton Analo said the body of the deceased has since been moved to Longisa Referral Hospital Mortuary.
