Three people have been confirmed dead and one police officer missing following a heavy downpour in Nairobi on Sunday night.

Reports indicate that the officer was swept by the raging floods minutes after rescuing three traders and a child at the Country Bus Station.
The officer was swept away while carrying his firearm, an AK-47.

A search and rescue operation is still ongoing along the Nairobi River.

Meanwhile, the heavy downpour disrupted livelihoods and learning as a spot check by Citizen TV revealed that some of the classrooms were submerged with some Mukuru kwa Njenga residents staying awake the whole night as their houses flooded.
