At least three suspected thugs were on Saturday, May 13, 2023, arrested by police along Makuyu highway in Murang’a county.

According to Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) the trio who’s names have been withheld is part of a gang that has been harassing motorists and robbing them of their valuables along the Kenol-Sagana highway.

The three were arrested following thorough investigations in the neighbourhood.

“Police conducted intelligence led investigations in Makuyu within Kambiti and Kitini area, before flushing out the three from their hideout,” DCI stated.

The gang that uses crude weapons and machete is notorious for erecting roadblocks and attacking motorists along the busy highway especially in the wee hours.

Police have since launched manhunt for other suspected gang members and asked members of the public to provide information that could lead to their arrest.

“More suspects are being sought in the ongoing operation with detectives appealing for information from the public through the anonymous #FichuakwaDCI hotline 0800 722 203,” the detectives noted.
