The suspects, identified as James Ngigi Ngendo, 32, and James Mburi Chichu, 75, are in police custody after a court granted detectives 10 days to continue with investigations.
Police say the case was reported by the boy’s mother after she left him at home with his grandmother and sister while attending a family gathering in Kipipiri.
Moments later, the grandmother received a phone call from a man who claimed he had abducted the child and demanded a ransom of Ksh.150,000.
Detectives later tracked the first suspect to Gitothua in Ruiru, who then led officers to the second suspect in Kigio area of Githunguri.
Officers discovered the boy’s body hidden inside a manila bag on a rooftop at a house where the first suspect had been living.
The body was moved to Mukoe Funeral Home for a postmortem as investigations continue.
