Residents said the suspect, identified only as Mbugua, and the deceased had been embroiled in a long-standing court dispute, with the conflict said to have escalated over time.
Locals claimed the suspect had previously issued threats against the deceased, including remarks that he would one day “land him in the grave”, statements they are now linking to the killing.
Residents also alleged the suspect had been involved in repeated incidents of harassment, intimidation, insults and assaults in the area, and claimed he often acted without fear while insisting no action could be taken against him.
Tension remained high as angry residents questioned how the suspect was allegedly released after previous arrests and incidents, only to return to the same community.
Nyumba Kumi elder Njenga Macharia appealed to police and the Judiciary through Limuru Law Courts to ensure the suspect remains in custody for his own safety, warning that members of the public remain angered by the incident and may attack him if released.
