The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) says it has recovered over Ksh.65 million in cash from a Nairobi County government officer alleged to be proceeds of corruption.

Officers raided the residence of Chief Officer for Urban Development and Planning Patrick Analo Akivaga in Syokimau, Machakos County, on Thursday as part of an ongoing probe linking him to a corruption syndicate.

EACC alleges that he receives millions of shillings in cash and M-Pesa deposits, claiming that he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known legitimate sources of income.

In a statement on Thursday, EACC said the raid led to the discovery of about Ksh.65,300,000 in cash in batches of Ksh.51,300,000 and USD 130,000 (Ksh.14,605,250), all hidden in his vehicle’s boot.

Other items allegedly recovered include several title deeds, motor vehicle log books, laptops, land and motor vehicle sale agreements, electronic devices and approval plans from the County Government.

EACC plans to take appropriate action after concluding investigations.
