Zari and Shakib announce separation after 5 years

Businesswoman and social media influencer Zarinah Hassan, popularly known as Zari, and her husband, Ugandan boxer Shakib Cham Lutaaya, have announced their separation after five years together.

In a joint statement shared on Zari’s Instagram account on Friday, June 12, 2026, the two said the decision to part ways came after much thought and reflection, noting that they had agreed to end their relationship due to irreconcilable differences.

They explained that the breakup was not an easy decision but one they believe is best for both of them.

The pair also expressed appreciation for the time they shared, the memories they created, and the support they gave each other throughout their relationship.

“5 years later, after much thought and reflection, we believe it is best for us to part ways due to irreconcilable differences. While this wasn’t an easy decision, we feel it is the right one for both of us,” the joint statement reads.

“We appreciate the time we shared, the memories we created, and the support we gave each other.”

Zari and Shakib further emphasised that there is no anger or resentment between them, adding that sometimes two people simply grow in different directions.

Despite the separation, they noted that they continue to value each other and remain friends with mutual respect and understanding. They further wished each other happiness, success, and the very best in their future endeavours.
