Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat says adequate security measures have been put in place ahead of the June 25 commemorative demonstrations honouring victims of the 2024 and 2025 anti-government protests.
The police boss warned that while the right to peaceful assembly will be protected, any acts of violence, vandalism or disruption of public order will be dealt with decisively.
Lagat also warned criminal gangs against taking advantage of the planned demonstrations, saying security agencies have intensified operations across the country to flush them out.
He spoke in Mombasa during the launch of an empowerment programme targeting 25 youth from low-income households.
The Deputy Inspector General assured the public that security agencies remain vigilant and prepared to maintain law and order during the planned commemorations.
