Police in Uasin Gishu County are pursuing a subordinate staff member of a private hospital in Eldoret City who is alleged to have defiled a minor at the facility where she was undergoing treatment.

According to police, the incident occurred on July 21, 2026, at Living Room International Hospital along the busy Eldoret-Kaptagat Road and was reported by the victim’s parents to Ainabkoi Police Station.

Ainabkoi Police Commander Charles Getende confirmed the incident, saying officers have been deployed to carry out investigations.

The suspect, identified as a cleaner who has worked at the hospital for a decade, is said to have fled. Preliminary findings indicate that his last mobile phone signal was traced to Kitale Town, Trans Nzoia County.
Getende has appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.

According to the victim’s family, the minor had been taken to the hospital for treatment and asked to provide a stool sample.
It was while visiting the hospital washroom that she allegedly encountered the cleaner who sexually assaulted her.
