Kakamega Homeboyz team manager Boniface Imbenzi has backed new head coach Edward Manoah to steer the team to do well in the Kenyan Premier League this season.

After a series of lackluster results in the top-tier league for the Kakamega-based club, Imbenzi is hoping Manoah and his assistant Paul Okatwa won’t disappoint.

“Edward Manoa is being assisted by Paul Okatwa, who was previously at the club in previous seasons where he worked alongside Francis Baraza, and he has also worked with Patrick Odhiambo.

“At the moment, he is serving as Manoa’s assistant.”

Manoa was confirmed about a month ago, and he has been working with the team since we started our preseason preparations.

He has been involved in planning for the upcoming season and has also been coordinating the team’s recruitment, as well as the technical bench as a whole,” said Imbenzi

The former Vihiga United FC tactician is currently leading the team in the preseason and recently lost 2-0 to heavyweights AFC Leopards at Bukhungu Stadium in a friendly match.

Imbenzi has also said that the technical bench has a few days to see whether they can bolster the squad or not as the transfer window nears closure this Friday at 11:59 PM.

“The transfer window is still open until around August 21, so there is still room for changes.

“Sometimes you may lose one or two players, or you may bring in new ones.

“Therefore, the recruitment process is still ongoing.”

For now, based on the results we have seen, we are working to get the team into shape.

By the end of the recruitment period, we want to have a clear understanding of the results and the kind of team we have built together so that we can properly prepare for the season ahead,” Imbenzi added.

The Cleophas ‘Toto’ Shimanyula-led team finished in position six with 49 points, thanks to their 12 wins, 13 draws, and nine losses.
