Fellow TikToker Elvis Mushila has shared what appear to be his final WhatsApp exchanges with Derrick Omollo, the 21-year-old JKUAT student and content creator who died under heartbreaking circumstances in Juja, Kiambu county.

On Tuesday afternoon, Omollo and three fellow JKUAT students travelled to an abandoned quarry site in Juja to shoot content using their phones.

Police said the group arrived at around 4.30pm. By 6pm, four men armed with knives had confronted them and demanded their devices.

As the students ran for their lives, Omollo fell into an open section of the quarry, which was estimated to be around 40 metres deep.

He suffered fatal head injuries and fractures to both legs.

The three other students managed to escape, though one lost her Samsung A16 phone during the chaos and another sustained an arm injury. The suspected attackers fled into nearby bushes.

Omollo’s body was recovered from the quarry and transferred to General Kago Mortuary in Thika pending a postmortem examination. Police have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing the four suspects.

What did Derrick Omollo’s leaked chat show?

Mushila posted a screenshot of the chat thread, which showed an active conversation between the two just days before Omollo’s death.

The exchange, dated June 21 and 22, captured the pair casually making plans to meet up.

Mushila initiated the conversation, asking whether the following day worked, and Omollo confirmed. The two then arranged a meetup in Kilimani, with Mushila asking for Omollo’s WhatsApp number to get directions.

Mushila captioned the post with a dove emoji, a heartbroken face, and the name “Omollo,” a quiet tribute to a friend clearly lost too soon.

Omollo had been steadily building a following on TikTok through creative content, earning him recognition among fellow students and young creators online.

His death has left the content creator community shaken, with Mushila’s leaked chat serving as a poignant reminder of just how suddenly things can change.
