The burial of former Kenya Power employee Bosco Kebati took a complicated turn when one of his daughters expressed disgust over the family’s conduct.
It all began when Lyndah Kebati accused her step-family of being unappreciative of their efforts in taking care of the deceased patriarch.
In a video that went viral and moved thousands online, Lyndah alleged that she, her mother Angelica Akinyi and their side of the family had been shut out of the burial arrangements.
She said she was not permitted to view her father’s body at the morgue, contribute to his eulogy or lower him into the grave.
“I am not angry because people didn’t ‘show up for me.’ I am angry because I was denied the opportunity to show up for my own father,” she lamented.
Her words sparked widespread debate, with many online users condemning members of Bosco’s first family.
In the wake of her sentiments, Julie Marita, the last-born of Bosco’s first wife, has come forward to offer a sharply different version of events from what Lyndah described at her father’s graveside.
Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, she disclosed that their late father married his second wife in the early 2000s, years after the first marriage.
“Everything changed the moment that happened, as he stopped providing for us,” she noted, disclosing that life never got better going forward.
She explained that their dad’s health began to decline roughly three years before his death, and that his second wife returned him to the care of his first wife.
From that point, she said, the first family bore the bulk of his care, including expenses for food and adult diapers, while relatives contributed to his upkeep.
She further alleged that Lyndah and her mother were informed of Bosco’s deteriorating condition, including during a period of hospitalisation, but did not visit.
Attempts to reach them, she claimed, were sometimes met with hostility. These allegations have not been independently verified.
According to her, no one stopped the second family from checking on their father since they had been part of the man’s life for over 20 years.
She added that on the day of the burial, Lyndah’s mother arrived at the family home and that a confrontation broke out before the ceremony.
Julie acknowledged that the first family’s silence online had worked against them, saying their lack of social media presence made it difficult to counter the narrative that had taken hold.
The relative also raised questions about Bosco’s retirement benefits from Kenya Power, alleging that his financial history was central to understanding the tensions that eventually erupted publicly.
“People should listen to both sides of stories before judging,” she said, adding that the family had chosen to leave the matter to God rather than engage in a prolonged public dispute.
The competing accounts have left a grieving family divided, with deeply personal allegations that began at a graveside now being weighed by an audience far larger than those who were present that day.
