Celestine Ndinda, the content creator and influencer widely known as Wakavinye, celebrated her birthday recently, but the day passed with surprisingly little fanfare from the people who once made up her inner circle.
Only two familiar faces from her former world showed up publicly to mark the occasion. Phil Karanja, known online as `phil_director`, dropped a warm message under her Instagram post, writing:
“Happiest birthday Mama T,” a comment that the birthday girl herself liked.
Celeste Terer, the girlfriend of comedian Eddie Butita, also chimed in with a cheerful “Happy birthday Cele,” which Wakavinye also acknowledged with a like.
Where was the rest of the gang?
The silence from others in the group was hard to miss. When Wakavinye was still married to Timothy Kimani, better known as Njugush, their friendship circle was tight and very publicly affectionate.
Names like Abel Mutua, his wife Judy Nyawira, Phil and Butita were all part of a close-knit crew that regularly celebrated and uplifted one another on social media. Birthday posts, shoutouts and public displays of friendship were a regular feature of that era.
Njugush, with whom Wakavinye shares two sons, posted nothing for her birthday. Abel and Judy were similarly quiet.
The contrast between then and now has not gone unnoticed by followers who remember how warmly the group once embraced her.
Phil and Celeste stand out
What makes Phil’s comment particularly striking is that he was among the most consistent in showing Wakavinye love even during the couple’s time together.
His birthday message, liked by over 100 people within hours of posting, suggests the friendship has survived the separation.
Celeste, meanwhile, keeps her connection to Wakavinye intact despite Butita being firmly in Njugush’s corner of the friendship group.
Wakavinye’s post played against the acoustic track *Counting My Blessings* by Seph Schlueter, a fitting backdrop for a birthday that was clearly more reflective than celebratory.
