Felista Njeri, a Kiambu woman who survived a catastrophic road crash that claimed her husband, three children and two brothers-in-law, has died, completing one of the most devastating family losses in recent memory in the region.
The news of her passing was shared on Saturday, September 5, 2026, by Ev Mercy Nungari on Facebook, who described the death as a painful new chapter in an already heartbreaking story.
Her husband, Frank Muturi, who ran a butchery business, had died alongside all their children and two of his brothers in the horrific accident in Nakuru.
Felista hospitalised after losing family members
Felista had been hospitalised in the aftermath.
At the time of the crash, Felista’s mother mourned the unimaginable loss of three grandchildren alongside her son-in-law and relatives.
Community members and well-wishers had rallied around the widow, then hospitalised and battling her injuries, hoping she would recover and rebuild her life.
Kamirithu community struggling to come to terms with loss
That hope has now been extinguished. Felista’s death means that in just over twelve months, an entire family unit has been lost.
Frank, the children, his brothers and now his wife are all gone, leaving behind a community in Kamirithu that is struggling to make sense of the loss.
According to the post shared online, daily meetings for burial preparations are already taking place at the Muturi family home in Kamirithu from 6pm each evening.

“In just one year, an entire family has been wiped away from the face of the earth,” Ev Mercy Nungari wrote, expressing the anguish felt by many who had followed the family’s story.
“It is difficult to understand such a painful loss, and honestly, it’s sad.”
The Kamirithu community, along with friends and well-wishers across the country who had prayed for Felista’s recovery, now faces the task of burying the last member of a family that road carnage began to dismantle over a year ago.
