Andrew Kibe is stepping up his boxing ambitions, confirming on the Kisiangabi podcast that his fight against Mumias East MP Peter Salasya will go ahead in December 2026 and that he has already received the contract on his phone.

The media personality and controversial commentator left no room for doubt, saying preparations are firmly underway and he intends to be in the ring before the year is out.

Why doesn’t Kibe want Obinna to plan his fight with Salasya?

One of the bigger revelations from the podcast appearance was the falling out between Kibe and popular content creator Oga Obinna.

Kibe stated plainly that Obinna will have no role in staging the fight, saying the trust simply is not there.

“Obinna is out. I don’t want to work with him,” Kibe said, adding that he is not certain about what he described as complex details surrounding the event and does not want Obinna in control of the proceedings.

As a result, the Salasya bout will no longer form part of Obinna’s Vurugu Fight Night 3. Kibe intends to take the event to a different, independent platform, giving him full control over how the night is run.

On the training front, Kibe revealed he will be working with Barack Jacuzzi as he prepares for the December showdown. The two are expected to begin camp as the fight date approaches.

Kibe also addressed another rumoured matchup, ruling out a fight with Gachau on the grounds of the latter’s physique.

Rather than trade punches, Kibe proposed a 400-metre race as a more suitable challenge, saying the muscles made a boxing contest out of the question.

The confirmation of the Salasya fight, the split with Obinna and the independent platform angle all point to Kibe taking tighter control of his boxing venture as December draws nearer.
