Kenyan content creator Duty Boy Stylish has had a week that flipped his world upside down in the best possible way.
Just days after a violent mugging on the streets of Nairobi left him without a phone, American YouTube giant MrBeast stepped in to make sure the young creator’s journey did not end there.
Why did MrBeast gift Duty Boy a phone?
MrBeast, born Jimmy Donaldson, and fellow creator Samuel Weidenhofer, known online as @itssozer, presented the 21-year-old with a brand-new iPhone 17 Pro Max as part of MrBeast’s ongoing 2026 humanitarian tour.
Weidenhofer shared the moment on Instagram, writing:
“His phone was stolen, but @mrbeast & I weren’t going to let that stop his dream 😭 🩷 He’s from the slums, and his biggest goal is to get his mum out! – So @MrBeast and I got him a new iPhone 🥹 💜”
Duty Boy had been building his following by filming street content in Nairobi when he was attacked by thugs who snatched his phone, the very tool he relied on to create.
For a young creator who had never owned a brand-new phone, losing it was a massive blow. What happened next, however, is what has the internet talking.
The Beast Philanthropy team connected with Duty Boy and arranged the surprise, catching the emotional handover on camera.
His reaction was raw and genuine, reflecting just how much the moment meant to someone who grew up with very little and carries the weight of his mother’s future on his shoulders.
Beyond the phone, Duty Boy joined MrBeast’s team in Ghana, where they are taking part in community village-building initiatives as part of the wider humanitarian programme.
MrBeast’s Kenya visit forms part of a broader 2026 push that has seen the creator fund medical surgeries and support school infrastructure across Africa.
