Pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about his long-standing friendship with Pastor James Ng’ang’a, dismissing speculation that the two preachers have fallen out.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Monday, September 21, 2026, Kanyari said his relationship with Ng’ang’a dates back to the early days of the latter’s preaching journey in Nairobi.
Kanyari said he was the one who welcomed Ng’ang’a to Nairobi and introduced him to different parts of the city. He also recalled a time when Ng’ang’a stayed at his home.
Kanyari says he introduced Ng’ang’a to Nairobi
According to Kanyari, his friendship with Ng’ang’a began many years ago, before both preachers became widely known for their ministries. He said he helped Ng’ang’a settle in Nairobi and would take him around the city as he began his preaching work.
“I was the one who invited Pastor Ng’ang’a to Nairobi, and I was the one who gave him a tour of Nairobi. He used to stay at my place at the time,” Kanyari said.
Kanyari added that Ng’ang’a also preached at his church in Kawangware during the early stages of his ministry. “The first church Pastor Ng’ang’a preached in was my church in Kawangware. I even took him to crusades everywhere,” he said.
Kanyari addresses speculation over their friendship
Kanyari also addressed claims and discussions on social media suggesting that there could be differences between him and Ng’ang’a. The preacher said the two have remained friends despite having gone on to establish their own ministries and develop separate public profiles.
“Pastor Ng’ang’a is my friend. Social media has tried to frame it as if there is a problem between us two, but there isn’t,” Kanyari said. He also explained that his respect for Ng’ang’a is influenced by their age difference, noting that Ng’ang’a is older than him.
Kanyari said that while he was the one who welcomed Ng’ang’a to Nairobi, he continues to respect him as an elder. “I can’t talk about Pastor Ng’ang’a in any bad way because he’s older than me. Yes, I welcomed him in Nairobi, but I’m younger than him, so I respect him,” he said.

Kanyari is the founder and leader of Salvation Healing Ministry, a ministry through which he has built his profile as a preacher and television personality.
Ng’ang’a, on the other hand, is the founder of Neno Evangelism Centre. He has been associated with the ministry for several years and is known for his sermons and television preaching.
Kanyari’s latest remarks offer a look at the relationship between the two preachers before they became prominent figures in Kenya’s religious and media space. For Kanyari, their different ministries have not changed the friendship they developed years ago, maintaining that there is no conflict between them.
