A Bungoma family is desperately searching for their 13-year-old daughter who vanished from home after her mother disciplined her for chatting on Facebook late at night instead of focusing on her studies.
Sharon Natasha Wanjala, a Grade Nine pupil at Maliki Primary Junior Secondary School, was last seen at her home in Maliki village, Kamkuywa, Bungoma County on Sunday, September 6, 2025.
What Happened Before Sharon Disappeared
Marion Wamayeku, a family friend told TUKO.co.ke that the trouble began on Saturday night, September 5, when Sharon’s mother discovered her on Facebook during what should have been study time.
The mother reprimanded her daughter and ordered her to destroy the SIM card before taking away the phone entirely.
“She was caught chatting on Facebook at night instead of studying on Saturday and was disciplined, then mum told her to burn the SIM card and took away the phone,” the source said.
The following morning, Sharon appeared to be in good spirits and stayed back at home to complete her assignments while her mother attended church. She was due to return to school on Monday, September 7.
When her mother got back from the church service at around 3 pm, Sharon was nowhere to be found.
“After church, mum came home at around 3 pm, and Sharon was not at home until today,” the source added.
Alarmed by Sharon’s sudden disappearance, the family reported the matter to Maliki Police Post.
The family believes Sharon may have been deeply affected by the confrontation the previous night, though her whereabouts remain unknown.
