Millicent Omanga has Kenyans talking after a candid interview alongside her husband on Oga Obinna’s show turned into an unexpected lesson in creative parenting.

During the sit-down session, Omanga opened up about her love of cars, rattling off an impressive list of vehicles she has owned over the years, including a Rolls Royce, a Bentley, a Range Rover, and a Mercedes, among others. “I love cars,” she said plainly, before adding with a laugh that her biggest financial weakness is spending heavily on vehicles.

How Omanga uses a Probox to keep her kids humble

Just when the conversation had settled into a portrait of a high-flying lifestyle, Omanga dropped a reveal that caught everyone off guard.

Tucked among her fleet of luxury cars is a Probox, and she keeps it for a very specific purpose: disciplining her children.

She explained that whenever her kids misbehave or need to be brought down a peg, she sends the humble Probox to pick them up from school instead of one of her premium cars.

According to Omanga, the moment her children spot the Probox pulling up at the school gates, they panic.

She described how they would spot the driver and bolt, rushing away from the vehicle rather than be seen climbing into it, only to end up waiting at school for up to an hour before having no choice but to get in.

“Ukitaka kudiscipline kama mama, shule na mini, pro box na kumchukua driver, kishu kwa shule na pro box wana toroka,” she said, laughing as she recounted the scenes.

The story drew clear amusement from the interviewer, with Omanga clearly relishing the effectiveness of her unconventional tactic.

From car boot seller to luxury fleet owner

Omanga also used the interview to reflect on her business journey, sharing that before she built her current empire, she was selling clothes directly from the boot of her car.

She would load the vehicle up with merchandise and sell to customers wherever she could find them.

“Mimi ni mfanyabiashara,” she said, describing how she started from scratch before working her way up to the life she now leads.
