A video showcasing the extraordinary home of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has gone viral following his tragic death, offering a rare glimpse into the lavish lifestyle he built during his lifetime.
The clip, shared on X, was filmed from inside a slowly moving vehicle and captures a sweeping drive past what appears to be a grand private estate.
The property is defined by its thick, tall cylindrical pillars that support a wide curved balcony on the first floor, with stainless steel railings running along its entire length.
Floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows line the front of the building, while two white luxury SUVs, resembling Porsche Cayennes, sit neatly under the covered car port at the entrance.
A perfectly manicured green lawn stretches across the front of the compound, anchored by a tall palm tree at its centre, giving the property an air of exclusivity and serious wealth.
Wicknell Chivayo dies in helicopter crash
Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, were killed on Wednesday evening, 30 September 2026, when the private helicopter they were travelling in came down in the Marondera Rural area of Mashonaland East, located east of Harare.
The crash happened at around 5:00 PM and claimed the lives of all six to seven occupants on board, including passengers and the pilots. The Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Chivayo family both confirmed that there were no survivors.
The video of his home has since resurfaced online amid the outpouring of reaction to his death, drawing widespread attention to the empire the controversial businessman had built.
A property that speaks for itself
The estate captured in the footage radiates multi-million dollar wealth. The curved modern architecture, manicured grounds and palm-lined driveway combine to create the kind of compound more commonly associated with luxury resorts than private residences.
The calm, aspirational tone of the clip, set to background music, only adds to the sense of grandeur surrounding the property.
Chivayo was one of Zimbabwe’s most talked-about and polarising public figures, frequently in the news for his flamboyant spending and high-profile business dealings.
His death, alongside that of his wife Lucy, marks a sudden and devastating end to a story that had captivated many across the region.
