A morning stroll in Kileleshwa took a dramatic turn after a German Shepherd reportedly intercepted a man who had allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a Chinese national.
According to witnesses, the incident unfolded when a motorbike rider allegedly grabbed the phone from the victim before trying to get away.
Luckily, a German Shepherd being walked nearby at the time spotted the commotion, broke into a sprint, and chased the suspect down before the man could escape.
German Shepherd Holds Suspect to the Ground
Footage captured shortly after showed the dog clamping its teeth firmly onto the suspect’s trouser, forcing him onto the cobblestones at the roadside. The dog did not bite the man but refused to release its grip until its handler physically lifted it away to free the suspect’s leg.
The suspect, who was wearing a green reflector jacket, lay on the ground as a crowd gathered. Onlookers watched as the commotion unfolded, with some residents nearby verbally confronting the man.
“Ras, you cannot just want easy things while your mates are hustling, these are the people spoiling the names of boda boda men,” a voice was heard in the background of the video.
Boda Boda Riders Dismantle Motorbike
Boda boda operators in the area did not hold back. They opened the motorbike the suspect had allegedly been using and began removing its parts, saying they would not let one person’s actions bring shame on their trade.
With his clothes dishevelled from the dog’s firm hold on his trousers, the suspect eventually muttered an admission.
“I will not steal again,” he said quietly.
The riders also engaged with the Chinese national to confirm whether he had recovered his phone, while some residents continued to upbraid the suspect for what they described as a blatant attempt at an easy score at the expense of others.
