Popular Kenyan comedian and social media personality 2mbili has broken his silence over a financial crisis that has left him without a car and in desperate need of help.
In a candid Instagram post on Wednesday, October 7, 2mbili told his followers that the past two months had been among the hardest of his life.
Was 2mbili auctioned?
He had allegedly taken out a loan from Pearl Micro Fund the previous year to finance a business venture, but the enterprise failed within six months, leaving him unable to keep up with repayments.
The situation turned ugly two weeks ago. Shortly after 2mbili posted on social media showing off a car he had acquired, lenders allegedly dispatched auctioneers to recover the vehicle.
He had dropped the car off for a wash at a facility along Ngong Road and stepped away, only to receive a frantic call from one of the car wash attendants warning him the vehicle was being taken.
By the time 2mbili got back to the car wash, the vehicle was gone. He said the auctioneers had a flatbed truck parked at a nearby filling station ready to receive it. The car has allegedly been in their possession for two weeks.
The comedian maintained that the car was not fully registered in his name, raising questions about whether the seizure was legally sound.
“From what I know, they can only take what’s in my name,” he wrote, adding that he had initially kept the matter private but was now publicly appealing for assistance.

Netizens weigh in
Some followers expressed genuine solidarity, with one commenter noting that 2mbili’s experience mirrors what many Kenyans face when dealing with aggressive lending firms. Others questioned the timing of his disclosure, pointing out that his earlier posts showing off the car now read differently in light of his admission
Here is what some had to say:
@coolkid_x_don_:
“Kwani empire fx hailipi bro 😂”
@vdj_jones:
“Its not possible for a lender to auction what wasn’t attached as collateral, and more so kama iko na joint ownership with another company”
@youngkrss_:
“Shida yako mtu hawezi jua kama ni clout”
@pozeh_light:
“Unatuonanga aje wewe😂😂😂”
@christopherg266:
“You have spoken on behalf of many Kenyans being harassed by these auctioneers; it’s getting hard, man”
@mwende.comedian:
“Next time kabla uanze kupigana make sure umefunga mshipi. Thank me later”
Whether the car seizure was legally valid remains unclear, but 2mbili’s post has drawn fresh attention to the practices of micro-lending companies in Kenya and the pressure borrowers face when repayments go off track.
