Naiyanoi Ntutu, the widow of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, gave her young daughter a birthday to remember on Wednesday, October 7, sharing a glimpse of the colourful celebration on her Instagram Stories.
The photo, posted by Naiyanoi under her handle @nayia_ntutu, showed a little girl posing between two large character mascots, a pink bunny and a brown bear, at what appeared to be an LOL Surprise doll-themed party.
How Johana Ng’eno’s daughter celebrated her birthday
The birthday girl wore a denim jumper dress over a white long-sleeve top and had a birthday rosette pinned to her chest, beaming for the camera.
The clip played to Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s *Barbie World (with Aqua)*, with a colourful party backdrop visible behind the mascots.
The party is particularly significant as it is her first birthday celebration since Ng’eno was killed in a helicopter crash on Saturday, February 28. The aircraft went down in Mosop, Nandi County, claiming six lives, including that of the MP and members of his team.
Nayia was 29 years old when she was widowed. She had married Ng’eno in 2018 in a high-profile ceremony; she was 22 at the time, while he was 45. During the requiem mass held at AGC Church in Karen and at his subsequent burial in Emurua Dikirr, Narok County, she delivered an emotional tribute, describing her late husband as the “love of her youth” and a devoted partner.
In her eulogy, she recalled how deeply Ng’eno cherished their children, describing how he would proudly hold them, play with them, and speak of them as his greatest accomplishments. The children, whose names have remained largely private, joined their mother and grandmother at the graveside, where they laid flowers on their father’s final resting place.
Seeing their mother now put together a joyful celebration for one of them is a quiet but meaningful step forward for a family that has faced an enormous amount of grief in a short space of time.
Nayia has continued to draw public attention since her husband’s passing. She has since been appointed to a three-year term on the Information and Communication Technology Authority board.
