Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo leads former officeholder Florence Mutua in a new opinion poll by Bobea Research & Insights, ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The survey, released on October 7, places Omanyo at 72% support compared with Mutua’s 25%. Another 3% of respondents were undecided or preferred other options.

Why is Catherine Omanyo leading in the poll?

The Bobea Countywide Tracker surveyed 382 respondents across all seven constituencies in Busia County, with the sample distributed proportionally to reflect the county’s voter population.

According to the report, respondents backing Omanyo cited her development record, leadership style, party affiliation and satisfaction with her performance in office.

“The 72% rating is one of the highest we have recorded in the county races. It is anchored on visible development and a leadership style that resonates strongly with the grassroots,” Bobea Research & Insights stated.

The poll places Omanyo 47 percentage points ahead of Mutua, who previously held the seat. The findings offer a snapshot of voter preferences at the time of the survey and should not be taken as a prediction of the final election outcome.
