Dona Makena has recounted how she was beaten, restrained with a black rope and injured during a confrontation at Forest Primary School in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.
Makena said the headteacher called the school watchman during the incident, after which she was kicked to the floor and stepped on. She also claimed that her father was attacked when he arrived at the school and began recording what was happening.
“I have a swollen back. I can’t count the number of times I was beaten. The headteacher called the watchman. They brought a black rope and the watchman kicked me on the floor and stepped on me,” Dona Makena said on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The woman said the situation worsened when her father arrived at the institution after hearing screams. She explained that he entered the staffroom and began recording with his phone, but the attention then shifted to him.
Makena claimed that members of staff began hitting her father as he tried to intervene. She also described the injuries she suffered during the confrontation, saying she experienced bleeding while she was at the school.
Dispute over lunch fees escalates
The incident at Forest Primary School began after a disagreement over school lunch fees. Makena had visited the institution to question why her younger brother had been sent home on the day he was expected to begin his examinations.
The disagreement is said to have escalated into a physical confrontation involving several male teachers. Her father intervened in an attempt to rescue her, leading to a further altercation with members of staff.
Makena said she was left bleeding during the incident, describing the physical effects she experienced. She claimed that she bled from both her mouth and vagina.
“I was bleeding. I felt blood come out of my vagina. Nikikua natoa damu kwa mdomo pia,” Makena said.
A video of the incident circulated on social media, bringing the confrontation to public attention on October 6, 2026. The footage showed Makena with her hands restrained as the confrontation unfolded inside the school.
In the video, she could be heard appealing to her father for help and saying she was bleeding. Her father was also heard questioning how a disagreement over school payments could lead to violence.
Makena’s account has brought further attention to the incident, which involved physical assault against both her and her father. The confrontation took place inside the school staffroom, where she said she had been restrained during the altercation.
