Sailors Gang members have reunited after seven years apart, sharing emotional moments as they remembered their late colleague Shalkido, who died in a motorbike accident in October 2025.
In a video Peter Miracle Baby shared on Monday, October 12, 2026, the remaining members of the Gengetone group were seen embracing warmly and celebrating the chance to reunite after years apart.
Miracle Baby said he was excited to see his former bandmates but admitted that Shalkido’s absence made the reunion emotional. “Leo nimekutana na crew members wangu wa Sailors. Tumekaa miaka saba bila kuonana. Kila mtu aliingia kwa lifestyle yake. So sad we lost one of us, Shalkido. RIP bro,” he said.
He explained that he wanted to capture the group members’ reactions as they met again, noting that their individual lives had taken them in different directions.
Miracle Baby also expressed sadness that Shalkido could not be present for the reunion, adding that he hoped the surviving members would have another opportunity to reconnect.
Shalkido’s death left a gap in the group
Shalkido, whose real name was Kevin Mburu Kinyanjui, died on October 6, 2025, after sustaining serious injuries in a motorbike accident along Thika Road.

The musician had reportedly been travelling from Thika towards Nairobi after performing at an event when the crash occurred in the early hours of October 5.
He was taken to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit with severe head injuries and a broken left leg. He later died while receiving treatment.
Shalkido rose to fame as a member of Sailors Gang, the group behind popular Gengetone songs including Wamlambez and Wainame. His death prompted tributes from fans and fellow entertainers, many of whom remembered his contribution to the group and Kenya’s urban music scene.
Sailors Gang’s place in Gengetone
Sailors Gang became widely known during the rise of Gengetone, a Kenyan urban music genre that gained popularity through Sheng lyrics, energetic beats, and songs that spread rapidly online.
The group featured Miracle Baby, Shalkido, Qoqosjuma, Lexxy Yung and Masilver. Their music helped establish them as familiar names during the genre’s rise. However, as the years passed, the members pursued different paths, with their reunion now bringing them back together in front of cameras.

Reunion comes ahead of Sol Fest 2026
The reunion also comes as Sol Fest prepares to feature a dedicated Gengetone set during its 2026 edition, scheduled for December 17 to 20 at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.
The festival’s planned lineup has drawn attention to the genre and the artistes who helped shape its popularity.
For the Sailors Gang members, the reunion offered an opportunity to reconnect after years apart while remembering a colleague who will no longer share the stage with them.
Miracle Baby’s remarks reflected both the excitement of seeing his former bandmates again and the sadness of remembering Shalkido, whose absence remained part of the moment.
