A teacher at Friends School Kamusinga Boys High School in Bungoma County has been arrested over allegations of soliciting bribes from unemployed teachers with promises of securing them jobs at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

The suspect, identified as Lilian Nelima Buluma, was arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Monday, October 12, 2026, following investigations into complaints lodged by three job seekers.

According to the EACC, Buluma allegedly demanded Ksh.100,000 from each of the three unemployed teachers, amounting to Ksh.300,000, in exchange for facilitating their recruitment into the teaching service.

The Commission said the suspect allegedly presented herself as having connections within the TSC and other government offices, which she claimed she could use to influence the recruitment process.

Preliminary investigations established that Buluma had allegedly received Ksh.150,000 through M-Pesa as part of the payments demanded from the complainants.

Following her arrest, the suspect was processed at the EACC Western Regional Office before being booked at Bungoma Police Station pending the conclusion of investigations.

She faces possible charges of requesting and receiving bribes, subject to the outcome of the investigations.
