An Ongata Rongai chef has earned her place in history after Guinness World Records officially recognised Dorcas Kwamboka for achieving the fastest time to make three chapatis, with the announcement sparking a wave of celebration online.

Guinness World Records shared the news across their official social media pages, drawing widespread attention to the Kenyan chef whose love for a staple East African flatbread turned into a global achievement.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Guinness World Records described Dorcas as a chef with a deep passion for food, cooking and record-breaking.

“She has always enjoyed making chapatis so she put her skills to the test and managed to beat the previous record by 43 seconds,” the statement read.

Following the recognition, Dorcas posted a photo of herself reclining on her bed, certificate in hand, in what she described as a well-earned rest.

“I may be in bed today, but my name has travelled beyond borders. To put my country on global map, Guinness World Records holder, proudly representing my county to the world. Resting like a queen because history has already been made,” she wrote.

She also poked fun at her own situation, admitting that her bank account had not yet caught up with her fame, though her pride in the achievement was unmistakable.

“Keep pushing, When the right time comes, The Lord will make it happen.”

“Looks kinda slow compared to an Indian restaurant I saw somewhere on the internet, only that they didn’t make it to register with Guinness World Records but congrats.”
