A Soy woman’s day took an unexpected turn when Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi’s helicopter landed in a field right beside her home, and the lawmaker walked in to greet her and hand her a gift of cash.

Sudi was in Uasin Gishu county on July 22, 2026, accompanying President William Ruto on a development tour that included an inspection of the ongoing construction of Ziwa Level 5 Hospital in Soy.

The 400-bed facility is expected to house five operating theatres, 12 Intensive Care Unit beds, 12 High Dependency Unit beds, a maternity wing, dental and diagnostic units, and a physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre.

President Ruto noted the hospital would ease pressure on Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and extend specialised healthcare to the growing population in the region.

Oscar Sudi’s Surprise Stop in Soy

When the MP’s helicopter touched down near the woman’s compound, Sudi did not simply walk past. He stepped inside, greeted the excited mother who was carrying a young child, and struck up a brief exchange with her in their local language.

He then pulled out a bundle of notes and placed the cash in her hands, leaving her grinning from ear to ear.

Before departing, Sudi paused to playfully pinch the baby’s cheeks and exchanged a few more warm words with the woman before heading back out through the rear of the compound to his waiting helicopter.

Kenyans React With Laughter and Praise

The short clip of the encounter spread rapidly online, drawing a wave of amused and admiring responses from Kenyans who found both the impromptu visit and the MP’s generosity endearing.

Laban Ondieki:

“Umelipia parking! You really went to school engineer. Such humble doings make great impact in life.”

Many viewers joked that Sudi was settling the bill for using the woman’s field as a makeshift landing pad, though the warmth of the exchange was not lost on those watching.
