Content creator Murugi Munyi has opened up about changing her weighing routine as she works towards improving her relationship with her body and protecting her mental health.

In a post shared on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Munyi revealed that she has moved from weighing herself every day to checking her weight once a week, specifically on Thursday mornings.

The mother of three explained that the change has helped her focus less on the numbers displayed on the weighing scale and pay more attention to how her body feels.

“I’ve gone from weighing myself daily to weighing myself weekly. On Thursday mornings,” she wrote.

Munyi acknowledged that shifting her attention away from the scale has not been easy, highlighting the challenges that can come with changing how one approaches weight management.

Focusing on mental health

The content creator explained that weighing herself less frequently has been better for her mental well-being.

“It’s better for my mental health!” she stated.

Her experience highlights how regularly checking one’s weight can become a source of pressure, particularly for people working towards specific body goals.

For some individuals, daily fluctuations on the scale can influence how they feel about their progress, even when the changes do not necessarily reflect significant changes in body composition.

By limiting her weigh-ins to once a week, Munyi appears to be taking a more measured approach to monitoring her weight while prioritising her mental well-being.

Learning to listen to her body

Beyond reducing the frequency of her weigh-ins, Munyi said she has been making a conscious effort to focus on how her body feels rather than allowing the scale to determine her perception of progress.

“Lately I’ve really been trying to focus less on what the scale says and more on how my body feels. Easier said than done though,” she added.

Her admission acknowledges that moving away from number-focused weight monitoring can be difficult, especially when the scale has become a familiar way of evaluating physical changes.

The post also showed a scale reading of 70.45 kilogrammes, offering a glimpse into her current weight-tracking routine.

Munyi’s experience has highlighted the importance of finding a weight-monitoring approach that supports both physical goals and mental well-being, rather than allowing daily measurements to overshadow how one feels.
