Ohangla musician Prince Indah has penned an emotional poem in memory of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, expressing the pain of losing a political figure whose influence continues to be felt across Kenya.
In a post shared on Instagram on Thursday, October 15, 2026, the musician reflected on the silence left by Raila’s absence, describing a nation still struggling to come to terms with his death.
Indah’s poem captured the grief of Kenyans who continue to remember the veteran politician, whom he affectionately referred to as Baba.
Where is Baba?
In his tribute, the musician described the past year as a difficult period marked by grief and a sense of emptiness.
“It has been one long, unyielding, silent year,” Indah wrote, adding that “the heart of the nation still aches with tears.”

He further described the atmosphere following Raila’s death as one where silence had replaced the energy and laughter that once filled public gatherings.
Indah repeatedly asked, “Where is Baba?” as he reflected on the absence of the politician from public podiums and crowds.
The musician’s words portrayed Raila as a towering figure whose presence had offered a sense of protection and inspiration to his supporters.
Musician celebrates Raila’s legacy
Beyond expressing grief, Indah used the poem to celebrate Raila’s contribution to Kenya’s political journey and the courage he believes the former prime minister inspired in others.
“You are the ink on the pages of freedom we trace. You are the courage that lights up the Kenyan’s space,” he wrote.
The tribute presented Raila’s influence as extending beyond his lifetime, with his legacy continuing through people who speak out and stand firm in their beliefs.
Indah also emphasised that the former prime minister remained alive in the memories of those who admired him.

“In every true voice that refuses to bend, in every brave soul standing firm to the end, you live, baba. You live,” he stated.

The musician concluded his poem with a farewell, acknowledging the depth of grief still felt by Kenyans.
His message ended with a reminder that Raila’s memory remained firmly held by those mourning his passing.
Through his emotional poem, Prince Indah has highlighted the enduring attachment many Kenyans have to Raila Odinga and the lasting place the former prime minister occupies in their memories.
