Karangu Muraya’s ex-wife, Triza Wainaina, has set tongues wagging after posting a TikTok video showing their daughter Esther without the signature white turban associated with the Akorino faith.

Karangu is a member of the Akorino community, a Kenyan religious group known for its strict dress code, which requires both men and women to wear white turbans known as viremba. Since the couple split, however, Triza has apparently moved away from that tradition for herself and the children in her care.

Esther’s new look turns heads

In the clip shared on Triza’s TikTok account, Esther appeared rocking neat braids, a stylish green dress, white stockings and white shoes. The transformation from the traditional Akorino look was immediately noticeable to followers who had watched the family over the years, and many were clearly taken aback in the best possible way.

The comments section filled up quickly as fans shared their thoughts on the young girl’s fresh style. The reactions ranged from simple admiration to pointed observations about the change in upbringing.

“Wow, beautiful baby gal.”

@Essie Jose commented:

“Aki pesa ya mama watoto ni mzuri sijui kama mnakumbuka vile walikuwa kitambo 🥰🥰🥰🥰.”

@Melanin kept it short with:

“Viremba manade😹🥰🥰.”

@Emily Nduta Foundation wrote:

“Definition of what a man can do a woman can do better 🤭🥰. Essy looks soo good 😊.”

@The Humble Sergeant 497 added a cautionary note alongside the compliment:

“Ngoja kidogo mtaskia vituko 😂😂😂. The gal is beautiful and smart.”

The mixed but largely positive response reflects how closely Kenyans have followed Karangu Muraya’s family life, particularly since details of his separation from Triza became public.
