Rachael Otuoma, the widow of former Kenyan Premier League striker Ezekiel Otuoma, has spoken of unusual interruptions that she says occur whenever she attempts to share her late husband’s story, suggesting that she believes he could be watching over her.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Rachael recounted how her attempts to open up about her husband’s life have repeatedly been interrupted by unexpected incidents, including a power outage during a previous session.
The widow wondered whether the recurring interruptions meant that her late husband did not want her to speak publicly about his story.
She said the latest incident had left her questioning why something seemed to go wrong every time she tried to discuss him with her followers.
“Anytime I want to speak or share the story of my late hubby, Otuoma, something strange has to happen to prevent me. Maybe he does not want me to share his story. Every time I come live and want to talk about his story, something must happen. Even last time, I remember something happened; there was a power outage,” she said.
Rachael explained that the interruption had happened again during her latest attempt to speak about the late footballer, prompting her to wonder whether the repeated disruptions carried a deeper meaning. She maintained that she believed Otuoma was watching her, interpreting the incidents through the lens of her continued emotional connection to her late husband.
“Now today, the same thing has happened. I believe he is watching. So he is like, ‘Babe, quit that story. Just live and live like a queen.’ I mean, he is watching and listening to me,” she added.

The widow also noted that some of her followers appeared to share her view that she should stop trying to tell the story, pointing to their comments during the live session. She said the repeated network interruptions had made her question whether she should continue with the subject.
“I can see my fans are commenting, and it seems today you all agree and have advised that I shun that story. Because why do I start a story and immediately the network goes off every single time I try? So it is apparent,” she said.
Otuoma’s battle with motor neurone disease
Otuoma, who played for clubs including AFC Leopards, Ulinzi Stars, Western Stima and Muhoroni Youth, died on Friday night, December 20, 2024, aged 31.
His death came on Rachael’s birthday, adding a painful dimension to a loss that deeply affected his family and supporters.
The former striker had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in late 2020, a progressive condition that affects the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. As the illness advanced, he lost his ability to walk and speak and eventually required a wheelchair and round-the-clock care.
His condition marked a devastating interruption to his football career, with Rachael remaining closely associated with his journey through the illness and the challenges the couple faced before his death.
Otuoma was laid to rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at his family’s home in Ramula, Gem, Siaya County, following funeral arrangements that brought together relatives, friends, fans and members of the football community.
Since his death, Rachael has continued to speak publicly about her late husband and their experiences together.
