Kitale – A group of Form 4 students has touched hearts after presenting their school principal, identified as Orwaru, with a special gift ahead of their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The students from St Joseph’s Girls Senior School, who proudly call themselves the Royal Zenith Girls, came together to honour a school leader they say has done far more than manage an institution.
Bond Built on More Than Books
For four years, they say, Senior Chief Principal Dr Rosebella Munzala Orwaru offered them the kind of personal attention and warmth that made the school feel like a second home.
The Class of 2026 did not simply want to walk out of the school gates without acknowledging what they believe has shaped them into who they are today.
According to them, the gift is a symbol of gratitude for the mentorship, encouragement and consistent support they received throughout secondary school.
Rather than pointing to academic results alone, the students highlighted the personal guidance Orwaru offered them, describing her influence as motherly.
Class of 2026 Sets Sights High
They credit her with creating an environment in which they felt seen, supported and confident enough to pursue their goals.
The presentation is a reminder that the mark of a great school leader is not always visible in league tables or institutional rankings.
Sometimes it lives in the gratitude of students who simply want to say thank you before they leave.
As they prepare to sit their KCSE examinations, they have set themselves a mean score target of 8.7, a figure that reflects the ambition and drive Orwaru is said to have nurtured in them.
The gift is their way of celebrating a leader whose impact they intend to carry well beyond the school walls.
For Dr Orwaru, it stands as a rare and deeply personal measure of the difference her leadership has made.
