Andy Deh, the son of the late reggae MC John Maina popularly known as MC Fullstop, is currently hospitalised after developing serious complications linked to his pancreas and small intestines, and has gone public asking for financial help to settle his medical bill.
He was admitted on 17 October and, speaking from his hospital bed, gave a candid account of what landed him there. After spending the weekend partying from Friday through to Monday, he rested for a couple of days before severe abdominal pain set in. Doctors discovered fluid build-up in his digestive system and linked the damage directly to alcohol consumption.
“Not a single meal was had for 3 days. Wameingiza pipe hadi kwa tumbo tu retrieve some fluid in my intestines that was stopping food from digestion. Pancreas nayo ilikuwa imeanza kuoza,” he said, describing the ordeal in stark terms.
He added that medics told him:
“Pancreas yako ilikuwa imeanza kuchomeka juu ya tei,” and that he genuinely felt he had brushed with death during the crisis.
The KSh 70,000 hospital bill
Andy went live to appeal for help clearing a bill of KSh 70,000. A screenshot circulating on social media, claimed he had only managed to raise KSh 600 out of the total. However, that figure has not been confirmed by any credible outlet.
A report by Mpasho specifically noted that Andy has not publicly disclosed a breakdown of his outstanding bill or revealed how much assistance he has received so far. The KSh 70,000 appeal itself is confirmed.
Backlash tied to earlier controversy
The timing of the hospitalisation has drawn sharp reactions online, with many Kenyans pointing to an appearance Andy made on the Chizi Podcast just weeks earlier.
During that interview, he linked media personality Natalie Githinji’s stage 4 endometriosis diagnosis to the use of contraceptive pills, comments that were widely condemned, including by comedian Eric Omondi.
That controversy has coloured the public response to his current situation, with a number of comments under his hospital posts invoking the word “karma.” As of the time of writing, Andy has not published any official fundraiser total or update on the status of his bill.
