Edwin Sifuna’s Security Forced to Move Graduate after Refusing to Let Him Go: “Simwachilii”

A graduation ceremony at Catholic University took an unexpected and rather entertaining turn on October 23, 2026, when a female graduate flatly refused to let go of Edwin Sifuna, leaving his security detail with no choice but to step in and physically remove her hands from the presidential hopeful before escorting him away.

A short clip of the moment, shared on TikTok by @diana1gb, quickly spread across social media.

In the video, Sifuna walks cheerfully through the crowd of graduating students dressed in sashes, seemingly unbothered, while the overlaid captions tell the full story.

At one point, one of the female graduates holds on to him, and he subtly told her that security would jump on her if she refused to let go.

“Simwachilii,” she said.

Sifuna then responded:

“Security watakudandia.”

Immediately after saying this, his security stepped in, leaving the graduate behind as they walked, with the politician laughing.

Whether the graduate was simply starstruck or simply determined to make the most of her graduation day, the clip has given Kenyans plenty to debate online.

Here are some of the comments from social media users:

@Jannie did not mince words about the student’s behaviour:

“But pia yeye..she got too comfortable 🙄 huyo ni president buana, hakuna jokes hapo.”

@seniormasha254 said:

“He was indirectly telling his security to deal with her.”

@Amunga said:

“I wonder why some character developed some hatred towards this guy.”

@Danteck said:

“Na ni ukweli masecurity wamedandia.”

@Phred said:

“Hio kicheko ni ya furaha.”

Sifuna, who is positioning himself as a presidential hopeful, attended the event in a suit and appeared relaxed throughout, the kind of composure that comes with being no stranger to large public gatherings.

His security team, however, had a slightly busier afternoon than planned.
