YouTuber and digital content creator Kabi WaJesus has weighed in on the debate surrounding marriage advice, saying men also need to be intentional about learning how to become better husbands and have a guide on biblical marriage.

Kabi made the remarks on Monday, October 26, 2026, following the conversations surrounding gospel singer Mercy Masika’s Becoming a Wife Masterclass, which has attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media.

In response to the debate, the content creator announced his own initiative, dubbed Becoming a Husband, describing it as a guide to biblical marriage.

Sharing a poster for the proposed initiative, Kabi wrote, “Following the conversations around @mercymasikamuguro’s Becoming A Wife Masterclass, one thing I agree with is that as men, we also need to be intentional about becoming better husbands.”

He added that successful marriages require effort from both partners, noting that couples must be willing to learn and grow together.

“Marriage works when both parties are willing to learn, grow and put in the work,” he stated.

Kabi also addressed the criticism directed at Mercy Masika following discussions about her marriage masterclass, acknowledging that some women have had difficult experiences in marriage.

“I also recognise that many women have gone through difficult experiences in marriage, and their concerns deserve to be heard,” he said.

However, he urged those participating in the debate to express their opinions respectfully rather than resorting to personal attacks against the gospel singer.

“However, I believe we can express our opinions without tearing down another woman who has chosen to share what she knows. We can disagree without bullying, attacking or trying to silence someone,” Kabi added.

He further encouraged people to appreciate initiatives aimed at strengthening marriages, even when they have differing opinions about the approach.

“Let’s learn to celebrate people who are making an effort to strengthen marriages,” he said, before thanking Mercy for what he described as a great initiative.

“Thank you, Woman of God, for the great initiative. Marriage is the backbone of the family, and we all have a responsibility to make it work,” Kabi stated.

The poster accompanying his announcement listed Evangelists Kabi WaJesus as the facilitator and carried the message “Due to Public Demand”, with registration invitations directed to interested participants.

He also encouraged men who want to improve their approach to marriage, as well as women who would like their partners to be more intentional about their roles as husbands, to express their interest.

“So, gentlemen, it’s our turn too! If you’re a man who desires to become a better husband, or a lady who would love to see her man intentionally grow in marriage, DM me and let’s make this happen!” he wrote.

His announcement brings men into a conversation that has largely focused on the expectations placed on wives, with Kabi arguing that building stronger marriages should be a shared responsibility.

While the details of the proposed initiative were not fully outlined in his announcement, his message centred on the importance of learning, personal growth and mutual effort in marriage.

The exchange has also highlighted the wider debate about how public figures share relationship advice, with discussions touching on personal experiences, biblical teachings and the expectations couples place on one another.
