Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Hussein Mohammed held his first national press conference since his appointment to office on Thursday.

Early Friday morning, Mohammed took the podium at State House Kisumu to report on President William Ruto’s two-day trip to the Nyanza region, which begins tomorrow, Friday, January 13.

This is also the first time he is addressing the nation since his office became autonomous after President Ruto reallocated functions and institutions among ministries and state departments.

Previously, the former top journalist addressed the nation through his social media channels, mainly Twitter.

According to Mohammed, President Ruto will inaugurate and tour other projects in the region during his trip, including the recently completed Homabay Municipal Market.

He will also hold talks on agricultural and infrastructural schemes and preside over the inauguration of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST).
