Lady Bishop Reverend Kathy Kiuna has publicly thrown her support behind gospel singer Mercy Masika’s planned masterclass, urging her to proceed with the programme and to execute it with full commitment.
Speaking from a podium at her church, Kiuna addressed Masika directly by name, calling on her to launch the class without hesitation.
Kiuna’s message to Mercy Masika
Kiuna framed her encouragement around a scriptural foundation, referencing the biblical instruction for older women to train younger women.
She also cited the Book of Proverbs, which describes a wise woman as one who builds her household and contrasts her with a foolish woman who tears it down.
“Mercy Mugoro, you better start that class and start it well. You better start it well,” she said, adding: “If you know that God is in something powerfully, look at the attack. You better start it and push very clearly.”
She continued:
“Older women are advised by the word to train the younger women. That is the word. And that’s what we need to do.”
Kiuna closed her remarks with a declaration about the purpose of her ministry:
“We are raising wise women in this house. We are raising wise women in the name of Jesus,” she added.
Masterclass draws criticism online
Masika’s planned masterclass, which centres on teaching women how to be wives according to biblical principles, had attracted considerable criticism from social media users who questioned the motivations behind it ahead of its launch.
Kiuna appeared to address the controversy indirectly, presenting the backlash as a spiritual sign rather than a reason to retreat.
She argued that significant opposition typically signals that a move of God is underway, which she used to encourage Masika to press forward rather than pull back.
