Peter Mwaniki, a 47-year-old truck driver and father of four, is the newest millionaire in town after winning a KSh 102 million jackpot.

Mwaniki, who has spent nearly two decades in Kenya’s transport industry, correctly predicted the results of all 15 matches in the recent draw.

He was not sitting by his phone waiting for the news either; SportPesa had to reach out and tell him that his predictions had made him a millionaire overnight.

Rather than rushing into a new chapter, Mwaniki told NEWSUNPLUG.co.ke that he intends to stay grounded and give himself room to think.

“I don’t have any immediate plans. This came as a surprise, and I don’t want to make any rushed decisions. I’ll continue with my day-to-day job for at least the next five months as I take time to consider my next course of action,” he said.

The long-haul driver says the years he has put in behind the wheel have shaped how he views money and responsibility.

Mwaniki’s Focus is on Family

His first thoughts after receiving the call were not about himself, but about his wife and children.

“I have spent most of my adult life working hard to provide for my family, so this is something I never imagined would happen,” Mwaniki said.

He added that he wants them to have opportunities that perhaps he could not always afford to give them, and to know that their future is more secure.

At the unveiling event, SportPesa Head of Marketing Esther Kange’the praised Mwaniki and reflected on the human story behind the prize.

“We recognise what this moment means to him and those who depend on him, and we hope he uses this opportunity to make thoughtful decisions that will benefit his family for years to come,” she said.

For now, Mwaniki’s road stretches ahead much as it did before the draw, only this time, with KSh 102 million waiting at the end of his shift.
