Kenyans have been in stitches after content creator Mkale Wa Trans Nzoia pulled off a Halloween ghost prank that sent unsuspecting villagers running for their lives.

Nairobi Gossip Club shared the clip on 2 November, and it quickly took off as part of a wave of Halloween 2026 ghost-prank content doing the rounds online.

Mkale’s terrifying ghost costume

Mkale clearly did not go halfway with the costume. He covered his face in white paint with blackened eyes styled to resemble a skull, topped it with a long, messy curly wig, and threw on a dirty cream dress belted at the waist with a black blazer over the top. To finish the look, he carried a small hammer for extra effect.

The setting was a narrow red-earth murram road somewhere in Trans Nzoia, and Mkale positioned himself behind two young men walking along the path ahead of him. Victim screams and bolts into the bushes Without warning, Mkale broke into a full sprint behind the pair. One of them, a young man in a striped jacket, jeans, a beanie and a backpack, spun around, let out a loud scream and took off at top speed into the surrounding bushes, yelling and laughing all at once.

Mkale kept the chase going for several metres, with the victim repeatedly looking back in pure terror, his mouth wide open.

A bodaboda rider who happened to pass by pulled over just to watch the whole scene unfold. In another shot, Mkale is seen creeping slowly towards the camera in full character before breaking into his signature sprint once more.

Kenyans react to the village prank

The comments section lit up with reactions from amused Kenyans.

“Baba ya mtu anapiga nduru kama mtoto,” one fan wrote.

Many pointed out that Halloween is not a Kenyan tradition, which meant the villagers had absolutely no frame of reference for what they were seeing and had every reason to believe a genuine ghost was chasing them.

Others praised Mkale for the content, calling it pure village comedy and urging him to keep the rural pranks coming.

Mkale Wa Trans Nzoia is well known for comedy content rooted in rural life, covering everything from farming to funny village encounters that resonate strongly with Kenyan audiences.
