Raila Odinga’s aide and ODM communications director Philip Etale has given Kenyans an unexpected peek at his home on the outskirts of Nairobi, and the reactions have been as colourful as the property itself.

Etale took to Facebook to share a photo of himself alongside his long-time friend, brother and former classmate Jimmy Nandwa, who had stopped by for a visit.

The snapshot, taken outside the house, ended up revealing quite a bit about where the veteran political operative calls home.

What does Philip Etale’s Home look like?

The residence cuts a striking figure. It is a modern two-storey structure finished in a peach-and-cream colour scheme, with grey stone-textured cladding adding texture to the upper floor.

The ground level features a covered entrance porch held up by a rounded pillar, with a sleek black glass-panelled door and matching black-framed windows giving it a contemporary edge.

A decorative black metal railing runs along the front porch, and two tiled steps lead up to the main entrance.

The compound is finished with grey interlocking cabro blocks accented with mustard-yellow and darker grey sections, while a solid perimeter wall gives the property a sense of privacy and enclosure.

What did Etale say about his home?

Etale used the post to celebrate Nandwa’s visit, expressing warmth for the friendship they share.

“Thank you my brother, friend and classmate Jimmy Nandwa for visiting me at my residence in the outskirts of the City… You are a good man bro,” he wrote.

The post quickly drew attention, with followers responding to both the tribute to his friend and the glimpse of his home.

Milton Apollo came in with a tongue-in-cheek remark, writing:

“Ruto build that house.”

Paul Odinga Shitseswa kept it simple with a compliment:

“Good residence.”

Calvince Obado struck a reflective tone, noting:

“Memories to remember in future.”

Wanjala Wafula brought the laughs with:

“Haiya!!!!haushi avoidable housing?”

while Simiyu Simiyu Simiyu offered a straightforward congratulations:

“Congratulations kuka.”

Dennis Jumah added his own playful jab:

“Unajua maana ya residence kweli?.”

And Dowa Kenya cut to the chase, asking:

“Umetaka tuone nyumba ama…”
