Sauti Sol’s Bien Baraza is not shy about his feelings, and his latest confession has Kenyans thoroughly entertained.

The celebrated singer admitted that Beyoncé brought him to tears the first time he watched her perform live, and not just a few quiet tears either.

Appearing on the Obinna Show Live in an episode shared by SPM Buzz on 3 November, Bien recalled the moment vividly.

He had travelled to Paris alongside his wife, Chiki, and a group of friends, and found himself seated in the crowd for a Beyoncé show, initially unconvinced about all the fuss surrounding the global superstar.

That scepticism did not last long.

How Beyoncé converted Bien into a BeyHive member

After watching Queen B command the stage for four hours straight, something in Bien shifted completely.

“My first time kuona Beyonce, nililia nikatoa kamasi,” he told host Oga Obinna, describing how the sheer power of the performance overwhelmed him to the point of full-blown tears, mucus and all.

Obinna could barely hold himself together, laughing as Bien, dressed in a brown leather outfit and shades, passionately recounted the experience.

The image of one of East Africa’s most respected vocalists weeping openly at a Beyoncé concert clearly tickled the host. Bien did not hold back in explaining what triggered the reaction. He said he had simply never witnessed that level of discipline, energy and stage presence concentrated in a single performer.

“That woman looks like a god when she is on stage,” he said.

“After that I joined the beehive. I was converted.”

Bien’s take on Beyoncé’s star power

For Bien, the tears were not just about the music. It was the work ethic behind the spectacle that moved him. Watching someone operate at that level for four consecutive hours left a deep impression on the singer, who is no stranger to high-energy performances himself with Sauti Sol.

Kenyans online have found the whole thing endlessly amusing, with many joking that Bien is now officially a certified member of the BeyHive, complete with his own initiation story.
