Sauti Sol band frontman Bien has opened up about the surprising backstory behind his latest hit, revealing that the song Okay was written three years ago while he was in Paris and that it was his ex-girlfriend who inspired it.

The confession came during a candid sit-down interview with Oga Obinna, where the singer reflected on the emotional journeys behind his catalogue.

When asked which of his songs stirs the most feeling, Bien admitted that every track carries weight, but “Okay” holds a particular story.

“I wrote this one three years ago,” he said, explaining that by the time songs are finally released, he often no longer wants to hear them.

The implication was clear: this one had been marinating in his heart, and in his hard drive, for a long time before fans ever got to experience it.

According to Bien, the track was born out of a season when he was still emotionally tied to a past relationship.

He was in Paris at the time, processing those feelings, and channelled them into what would eventually become Okay.

The revelation landed with a thud for many fans, given that Bien has been married to actress Chiki Kuruka for over six years.

The idea that a song on his current project traces its roots to a pre-marriage heartbreak sent the comment section into a frenzy.

During the same interview, Bien also spoke about his earlier viral anthem “All My Enemies Are Suffering,” noting with pride that even football fans ran with it, particularly when Arsenal won the Premier League.

“Everybody was using it,” he laughed.
