President William Ruto made quite the fashion statement at his daughter Charlene’s wedding, arriving in an elaborate red-and-black blazer covered in dense, hieroglyphic-style motifs that quickly became the most talked-about outfit at the event.
The bold look was completed by a crisp white dress shirt, a black bow tie, a cream fedora with a wide maroon band, and a twisted wooden walking cane.
The blazer itself featured rich red velvet lapels and collar, gold buttons, and decorative stud detailing on the cuffs, giving it a distinctly regal finish.
How much is Ruto’s blazer at Charlene’s wedding?
Kenyan menswear outlet Zannetti Gents Fashion was the first to publicly name the designer behind the garment.
In a Facebook post dated Friday, November 6, the outlet identified the piece as a creation from Stefano Ricci, a prestigious Italian luxury fashion house known for its high-end craftsmanship and bold designs.
The post also confirmed that the shop had begun accepting direct orders for the blazer following what it described as “overwhelming public interest.” Prices start at approximately $7,000, which translates to around KSh 904,000, with the final figure depending on size and availability
The revelation quickly triggered a wave of reactions online, with many Kenyans amused, surprised, and even inspired by the head of state’s sartorial choices.
Jeniffer Isaya wrote:
“Luos will not let us rest with this blazer.”
Evelyn Kibuchi questioned the figures, asking:
“Did you mean KSh or USD?”
Otieno Ngoye joked:
“If everyone is asking for it, then it is gonna be the ‘Kenya uniform’.”
