Teacher Cillah, the Westlands Primary School educator whose cheeky social media flirtations with George Ruto once took the internet by storm, is back in the spotlight — this time against her own wishes.
A day after Charlene Ruto’s wedding on Friday, Cillah, whose full name is Priscilla Wanjiku Karanja, took to social media to address the flood of tags and questions coming her way from Kenyans who could not resist linking her to the occasion.
The two first caught public attention after Cillah began making jokes online about wanting to marry George Ruto, the son of former President William Ruto. Their lighthearted exchanges resonated widely with Kenyans, turning both into unlikely social media favourites.
The story gained even more momentum when George showed up in person at Westlands Primary School in Nairobi, where Cillah teaches.
During the visit, he joined a classroom session, interacted with pupils and indicated he was willing to support the school with educational materials and sports equipment.
However, he noted that he has a partner.
”Kenyans don’t like moving on and they don’t like seeing people move on. I already moved on, why are you tagging me on people’s weddings? Stop asking me too many questions,” she said in a video post on Saturday, 8 November.
She reinforced the message in her caption, writing simply:
”Let’s move on please.”
Despite her firm “move on” message, followers were not entirely convinced by Cillah’s composed demeanour.
Several pointed out cues in her video that suggested she was holding back more emotion than she let on.
@Aithkhavere commented:
“Tell them to focus.”
@missmercy_w wrote:
“We know the voice of someone who wants to cry.”
@shar.onjep predicted:
“Series part two incoming.”
@iam___tezy chimed in with:
“And we said no crying.”
@Achalugomalicha simply asked:
”Do you want to cry?”
Whether Cillah has truly closed the chapter on this saga remains to be seen, but judging by the reaction online, Kenyans are clearly not ready to let it go just yet.
