Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp rejected claims that he is too loyal to his underperforming stars at Anfield.

Klopp has been heavily criticized for regularly using certain players who seem out of place at Liverpool.

“I’ve heard I’m too loyal, but I’m not too loyal. The problem is too complex. If you can then bring in another player to replace him, then it makes sense.

“But if you can’t get anyone, you can’t take anyone out. I’m not very loyal. Before I left Dortmund, I said that something has to change here – either a change in management or a lot of other things,” Klopp said.

Klopp added that he wants to change the current situation at Liverpool and stay at the club as long as they need him.

“I will be here as long as they want me. If no one tells me to leave, I will not leave. This is something for the future, in the summer, not now. The only thing I want is to fix this situation – that’s all.

“It’s clear that there will be an important period of change. There have been injuries, but no one cares. The guys feel the responsibility, but we stick together with everything we have,” Klopp concluded.

Liverpool lost 3-0 to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League at the weekend, 14 January 2023.

Liverpool signed only one player in January, and the performance at the weekend says it all: they need to sign more players.
