Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Sam Atandi has urged President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to stop engaging in politics and focus on administering their leadership roles.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s Daybreak Show on Monday, MP Atandi noted that the duo needs to realize that they are in possession of the instruments of power and should now start working on delivering services to Kenyans.
“We want to urge President William Ruto together with his deputy to be magnanimous to ensure that they now become leaders of this country,” said Atandi.
“What I see the two do each and every day is that they are still engaged in political campaigns. I don’t know where they are getting time to do so.”
The legislator added that the nation is in a dire state and engaging in politics will derail finding a remedy to the economic crisis.
Atandi noted that the government should bear a laser beam focus on solving the high cost of living and hold consultations with Kenyans to foster unity.
He likewise warned that the government should lower the tax rates that he says are hurting Kenyans’ pockets given the unfastened economy state.
“The president said that they received a battered economy but when you take over the reins of power and you find the economy is destroyed, how then do you find the guts to begin to introduce higher taxes on the same economy?” he posed.
“I thought in such a case the first thing you should do is to build that economy. The president needs to first build the economy before taxing Kenyans, you don’t tax a sick person. When you tax us you are going to kill us.”
