Police in Busia are looking for a firearm stolen from a police commander on the night of Saturday, February 18, 2023.

According to a police report seen unknown burglars broke into the commander’s house and ransacked it before stealing a radio and a Czeska pistol. The burglars also broke into his servant quarters and stole a 6kg gas cylinder, and a radio.

Police suspect the burglars may have sprayed a stupefier through the bedroom window which was slightly open since the commander complained of a headache and dizziness when he woke up.

“It was reported by the county CIPU Commander Busia Bishar Muhumed SSP that yesterday at around 9.30 PM, he locked his house in government housing quarters, Milimani Estate located about 300 metres from the porous border and slept,” the police statement reads in parts.

“Today at around 0335hrs he woke up feeling headache and dizziness only to see his suitcase kept near his bed lying on the floor with the clothing scattered all over. His Czeska Pistol serial no.F8457 with 15 rounds in the same suitcase missing,” the statement added.
