Embattled former Interior Cabinet Secrtary Fred Matiang’i has jetted back into the country after a two-week trip to the United Kingdom.

Matiang’i is said to have gone to the European nation to attend to an urgent private family matter, in a private capacity.

According to sources, the ex-CS landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 10:00 pm on Saturday night aboard KLM Flight 0566.

The source told Citizen Digital that Matiang’i is expected to present himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Monday at 11:00 am.

Matiang’i has been under probe by the DCI, questioning him over the alleged police raid at his house in February.

Earlier, Senior Superintendent of Police Michael Sang issued a directive compelling Matiang’i to appear at DCI headquarters on grounds that he could have published false information regarding the alleged police raid a fortnight ago.

His lawyer Danstan Omari later defended him, stating that the DCI did not follow the procedures on how summons ought to be served, noting that neither the former CS nor his legal representatives had received such a directive.

Should the DCI follow the set guidelines on the summons, Omari added, Fred will willingly present himself for questioning.
